We are pleased to announce that the clinical protocol of the LIVERATION trial has been published in BMJ Open, one of the most prominent international open-access medical journals.

This publication strengthens the visibility and credibility of the project, helping to disseminate its methodology, objectives, and potential impact in the field of liver cancer surgery among a global audience of clinicians, researchers, and decision-makers.

The article, titled “LIVERATION trial: a multicentre European randomised study on radiofrequency margin coagulation and its impact on oncological outcomes after liver surgery”, presents the rationale and design of the first European trial to assess whether radiofrequency-assisted margin coagulation can reduce local recurrence after liver resection in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

With 698 patients across 33 centres in 7 countries, LIVERATION is positioned as a landmark trial in surgical oncology and evidence-based liver surgery.
