We are excited to introduce a new feature on the LIVERATION website: an AI-powered assistant designed to make information about our project easier to access, understand and explore.
LIVERATION brings together researchers, clinicians, patient organisations and other experts from across Europe to investigate whether additional radiofrequency coagulation of the surgical margin can help reduce cancer recurrence following liver surgery.
As the project progresses, the amount of information generated continues to grow. Our new AI assistant provides visitors with a simple and interactive way to explore LIVERATION and ask questions in their own words.
Who is it for?
The LIVERATION AI Assistant has been created for anyone interested in learning more about the project, including:
- Patients and their families looking for accessible information about LIVERATION and its objectives.
- Researchers and scientists interested in the project, its clinical research and scientific activities.
- Healthcare professionals who want to learn more about the approach being investigated.
- Students, policy makers and other stakeholders interested in liver cancer research and European collaborative research.
- Members of the general public who would simply like to understand what LIVERATION is trying to achieve.
Instead of navigating through multiple pages, visitors can simply ask a question and start a conversation.
Making science more accessible
Effective communication is a fundamental part of LIVERATION. Scientific and clinical research can often be difficult to understand for people outside a particular field.
The AI Assistant helps us provide another entry point to the project, allowing users to interact with LIVERATION information through a conversational interface.
You could, for example, ask:

- “What type of cancer does LIVERATION study?”
- “How is radiofrequency being investigated in liver surgery?”
- “Who participates in the project?”

The objective is not only to provide information, but also to encourage greater interaction between the project and the different communities interested in its work.
Protecting confidential project information
The assistant has also been designed with an important safeguard: it is instructed not to disclose confidential information related to the project.
Its purpose is to support communication and access to appropriate LIVERATION information—not to provide access to confidential consortium information or restricted project data.
For patients, the assistant should also be considered an information and communication tool rather than a substitute for professional medical advice. Questions concerning an individual diagnosis, treatment or clinical situation should always be discussed with qualified healthcare professionals.
Supporting LIVERATION’s communication mission
The new assistant complements the LIVERATION website, social media channels, newsletters, events, scientific publications, training activities and other communication initiatives.
By introducing conversational AI, we hope to make our website even more interactive, accessible and useful, while strengthening dialogue with patients, researchers, clinicians and the wider community.
